DAY1
SINGAPORE - SIEM REAP Arrive in Siem Reap and transfer to hotel for check in.
Visit the earliest temples of the Angkor periods at Roluos Group about 10km from Siem Reap lays the complex of Roluos, one of the first Khmer capitals built by Indravarman I and originally called Hariharalaya. Roluos Group includes Preah Ko, Bakong and Lolei for a useful chronological perspective on Angkor's development.
After lunch in town, visit Prasat Kravan, Bat Chum Eastern. Continue to visit Mebon built in the 10th Century by Rajendravarman. This temple is situated on a small island in the middle of the Oriental and Baray. It has all the characteristics of the mountain temple and is only accessible by boat. From the inscriptions nearby, we know that Rajendravarman dedicated it to his parents.
Later visit Pre Rup which was also built by Rajendravarman in the 10th Century. In this construction, we can see the first appearance of the long halls which are very common in the temple with continuous galleries.
DAY2
Siem Reap After morning breakfast, travel to Phnom Krom for a cruise on the Tonle Sap (visit floating villages).
Proceed for lunch and then visit jungle clad Ta Prohm. This temple was a monastery built by JayavarmanVI as a residence for his mother. Its has been controversially left to the destructive power of the jungle by French archaeologists to demonstrate the awesome power of nature. It has been largely consumed by the jungle and as you climb through the dilapidated stone structures, you see many giant trees growing out of the top of the temple itself.
Later visit Banteay Kdei which was constructed during the 12th and 13th Centuries. Its system of galleries and vestibules that were added after the construction of the main towers makes it look like a cloister. Enjoy the beautiful sunset over Angkor Wat.
DAY3
Siem Reap After breakfast, visit the sites of Angkor Thom which was first built under the reign of Udayadityavarman II in the 11th Century. It was destroyed when the Chams from Vietnam rose up against the Khmers and invaded, sacking the city, and was subsequently renovated by King Jayavarman VII at the end of 12th Century. Its vast walls, some 6m wide, 8m high and 13km in length contain many monuments. Continue to visit Victory Gate, the Bayon, this temple mountain is situated in the center of the city of Angkor Thom. After lunch in town, visit magnificent Angkor Wat to view its architecture and bas reliefs.
